Brevard County Shark Attacks
Teenage Shark Attack
On July 9th 2006 Orlando Sentinel, Brevard County, FL, a teenage boy was bitten by a shark. The boy was swimming near a beach at the Canaveral National Seashore.
The boy, who was not identified, was taken by helicopter to Arnold Palmer Hospital for Children after authorities determined the bite was severe.
It appeared the shark took the boy's leg into its mouth, bit and scraped down the leg and released, Dominguez said.
The bite happened about 1 p.m. at Playalinda Beach, near Titusville, when the boy was swimming with his mother. His mother told authorities she saw him go under the water to his neck and then he screamed.
He was taken to Parrish Medical Centre in Titusville by ambulance and later transported to Orlando in stable condition.

East Coast Shark Attacks
The East Coast of the U.S. is having a heavy year of shark attacks from North Carolina down to Florida. Swimmers near Myrtle Beach may be a little weary to get in the water, that's because a 14 year old girl is recovering after being bitten by a shark.
The attack happened Saturday morning just off Pawleys Island about 25 feet out in the ocean. The teen says a six foot long bull shark attacked her right foot. She now has 70 stitches in her leg but says the attack will not keep her out of the ocean.
An 11-year-old boy was bitten Sunday on the lower leg and ankle off Ponte Vedra Beach in St. Johns County. The boy, whose name was not released, was walking in waist-deep water off Ponte Vedra Inn and Club when he reported being bitten. Several witnesses saw a shark swimming around. His injuries were described as "not life-threatening."
Brevard County shark attacks are still happening, the day before, a teenage boy swimming off Playalinda Beach in Brevard County was bitten on his calf. The boy, thought to be 13 or 14, was in stable condition at Arnold Palmer Hospital for Children in Orlando.
